Art will always be one of the most beautiful and sublime means of expressions of humanity. It began as a means of communication and expression ever since the beginnings of times, when humans used to scribble shapes and drawings on the walls of caves, and it evolved during history in so many different ways, that “art” became a very complex and diversified term.

Drawing and painting, the first types of art that come to mind have evolved many branches and styles as the time passed, bringing to the world famous painters that became evergreen and whose works are present as decorations in the houses of people all over the world.

Modern times, however, brought a new branch of art along with their fast advent: digital art, art made on the computer, with virtual instruments, nothing like drawing and painting. Digital art opened new horizons and brought amazing new styles and designs to the eyes of the art lovers, employing highly complex techniques and tools in order to create images that look out of this world.

Fantastic vs fantasy genre definitions
Fantasy art as it is defined by Wikipedia is a contemporary version of the fantastic genre of the previous centuries. However, it is not exactly correct. Everything lies in the defining of the word fantasy. From the one hand, all artistic creations could fall under the term fantasy as long as they require some creativity, from the other hand, only pieces related to certain imaginary worlds could make the claim. The problem lies in the extremely broad definition of the word fantasy. If one considers fantasy as a genre of fiction, it gets even more confusing when one tries applying it to fine-art. The fantasy fiction is a genre of story-telling about imaginary worlds of magic and mysticism. Academics and thinkers tell us that imaginary dreaming has positive influences — providing 'small regressions and compensatory wish fulfilments which are recuperative in effect'. In phycology, fantasy covers literally all senses, the conscious and unconscious ones. Even though the unconscious sense spells differently, phantasy, it does not really help, or does it?
